Down Yellow Brick Lane (And Westminster)
After a long, relatively bad week, I finally pulled through. I'm not going to go into too much detail about how the beginning of 2019 is going currently. However, I am trying to stay positive and the only way I think I am able to do that is by living in the moment; living for the good days and, while remembering that past experiences are important no matter the outlook, moving on from the bad days. I found this quote online recently which says:
"The word 'happiness' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness"
- Carl G. Jung -
With this in mind, I can safely say that I enjoyed this last weekend that I spent with one of my closest friends (AKA: Wise Young Owl) despite previous events because I have not let the negative taint the positive. This weekend, Wise Young Owl, traveled for two hours just to stay in London with me and it was so fun! Here are a few of the things we did:
Brick Lane (Shoreditch, London)
In Brick Lane, we spent some of our time walking through the streets enjoying the artsy graffiti that covers like, I'm pretty sure, 90% of the buildings and walls. It was incredible to see the more creative, laid back side of London because a lot of the shops and cafes in Brick Lane are small and independently owned so it feels less touristy than other streets that I have walked through in London.
The main focus of our trip was to visit the Cereal Killer Cafe for brunch - a quirky, all-day cereal service. I mean, the aesthetic was a MOOD! There was a retro kind of vibe where there was wallpaper with the young Spice Girls on, old cereal commercial posters and 90's toys like trolls and a miniature Mr Blobby. The music fitted in with the whole aesthetic as well and I found it funny how a lot of the music being played in the cafe was also what was on my own Retro Playlist, including Jump by Kriss Kross!
The food was so unique and delicious, I chose the Luckiest Charm Superbowl while Wise Young Owl chose the Chocopottomus Superbowl and we shared a basket of Cornflake chicken, which sounds weird but is so tasty! The Luckiest Charm bowl was so sweet because it had so many Lucky Charm marshmallows in, however I am proud to say that I did manage to finish all of it!

Westminster (Central London)
Our next stop was Westminster to be proper tourists and see the London Eye, Big Ben and walk along part of the Thames. It was quite funny because we had to take a slight detour while on the train because we got on the wrong train and then got confused when we had to swap to go back towards Westminster! Then once we got there, we enjoyed a long wander, trying to find Big Ben. Now, bearing in mind I have been to Central London several times, I am beginning to think that I have issues with direction! We walked straight past the Elizabeth Tower several times until I suddenly remembered that the clock is presently under re-construction; I saw scaffolding and slowly looked upwards - Big Ben's clock face staring directly at us! By that point both Wise Young Owl and I decided that we were definitely suffering the consequences of last night and therefore we should go back home in the warm and have a cup of tea.
Well, that's my little story of how my weekend went, I hope you all had a good weekend and if you didn't, remember that there will be a good day soon to follow - I promise. Talk soon xx
